Ayurveda takes a unique approach to children’s physical, mental and emotional health. When your child is experiencing negative symptoms related to: ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, and Autism spectrum disorders, challenges seem to be never ending. Ayurveda can help to add some clarity, support and success to that list. Like a light at the end of a tunnel. As an Ayurvedic Practitioner I will help you to help your child.
When it finally clicks that there is something going on with your child, there is a whole rush of emotions. Depending on the age of your child and how the symptoms present themselves you may experience everything from denial to warrior mom. Fear to bliss. From the parents (mostly moms) that I’ve talked to over the years, it’s a range. Sometimes the whole range of emotions is experienced on a daily basis. A lot of that has to do with support. What tools do you have in your toolbox that help you with this challenge? Along with that it’s also support from your partner (if you have one), family, friends, teachers, health care practitioners, etc. So many questions come to mind. Will you be able to help them make long lasting progress? Can you keep them healthy and safe? Will they be able to make and keep friends? Will they be able to drive and work? The list goes on and on. The direction you choose to take will have a lifelong impact.
How Ayurveda works
When you have a child with a special need, you want to take special action. Ayurveda is a medical science that originated from the area now known as India. Ayurveda works with the natural cycles of life. If any of the anabolic, catabolic or metabolic processes are not functioning properly an imbalance will show up. That is an indication that the body or mind doesn’t have what it needs to heal itself, cannot access what it needs or both. It is a constant ebb and flow. Where there is toxicity, there will be illness or imbalance. By working on the causal factors creating and/or contributing to your child’s issue(s), we can begin to understand, and attempt to unravel the sometimes complex factors contributing to the symptoms.
